Hair Care Guide for Raw Hair Extensions

The beauty, health, and longevity of your raw hair extensions depend heavily on a diligent hair care regimen. Raw hair requires more upkeep than processed hair, with each strand needing gentle care and conditioning to stay hydrated and healthy. Below are some essential tips and guidelines to help you maintain your raw hair extensions:

Prior to Installation:

Wash and Deep Condition Your Hair

  • We recommend deep conditioning your raw hair extensions regularly, approximately every two weeks.
  • Deep conditioning is crucial because, after being separated from its donor, the hair loses the natural nutrients it once received. Reintroducing these nutrients is essential for restoring lustre and extending the hair's lifespan.
  • For optimal results, use a hair mask to deep condition.

Pre-Washing Preparation:

  • Before washing, ensure you thoroughly brush the hair, regardless of its texture, to make it easier to manage when wet.

Washing and Conditioning:

  • Use sulphate-free and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner.
  • When detangling wet hair, always apply conditioner first and start detangling from the tips, working your way up to the roots.
  • Use a wide-tooth comb or a wet brush, especially effective for very wavy and curly textures.
  • Thick cream conditioners work best for Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Chinese hair.

Post-Washing Care:

  • After washing, pat the hair dry to remove excess water and brush through without applying any product.
  • Apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner to infuse moisture; cream-based leave-in conditioners are particularly effective for extensions. Alternatively, you can choose to use no product at all.
  • Allow the hair to air dry naturally or use a hooded dryer. Avoid blow-drying, as it can cause strand breakage due to overheating.

Daily Maintenance:

  • Apply a small amount of hair oil daily to maintain moisture, but be cautious to avoid product buildup, which can make extensions stiff and lifeless.
  • For curly or very wavy textures, use a generous amount of leave-in conditioner daily to tame frizz and define curls or waves. Again, cream conditioners are highly recommended.

Heat Styling:

  • Always use a heat protectant when applying heat to the hair with flat or curling irons to minimize breakage.
  • Argan oil or your preferred hair oil can serve as an effective heat protectant.

Brushing and Combing:

  • Use a wide-tooth comb or a soft-tip paddle brush for detangling as needed.

Night Care:

  • Use a silk bonnet at night to lock in moisture and prevent breakage.

Coloring:

  • If you wish to color your raw hair extensions, consult a professional colorist to ensure optimal results and avoid over-processing.

Closures & Frontals:

  • We recommend consulting a hair professional for knot bleaching.
  • To minimize shedding, avoid frequent brushing.
  • For the optimal health and longevity of your lace product, please adhere to the hair care guidelines provided above.
